Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope

IMPORTANT INFORMATION! PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ THE FOLLOWING.

We want to save you money on shipping and the Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope offers us that opportunity. However, I have been told by some of my customers that their local post office does not like nor do they agree with the way we package some of the merchandise we send you. The post office has even gone so far as to make the recipient pay the difference between the Flat Rate charge and the Priority Mail charge.

The notice shown below is a copy of an official USPS document that was sent to each post office some time ago (I received this notice from a postal employee). Unfortunately, not all postal employees have read it - especially the window clerks.

If you are experiencing problems receiving your orders or have been charged extra postage feel free to make a copy of this notice and present it to the postal employee who is trying to make life difficult for you. The title of this sheet is Mailers Companion-4, July/August 2004 and each post office should have this notice on file.

1.0 Priority Mail Rates and Fees

1.4 Flat-Rate Envelopes and Boxes

Any amount of material may be mailed in a USPS-produced Priority Mail flat-rate box or flat-rate envelope. When sealing a flat-rate box or flat-rate envelope, the container flaps must be able to close within the normal folds. Tape may be applied to the flaps and seams to reinforce the container, provided the design of the container is not enlarged by opening the sides and the container is not reconstructed in any way.
